Kingfisher has partnered with Hecate Energy to help procure prospective rooftop solar sites within the communities in the Los Angeles District of Water and Power (LADWP). Hecate Energy has been awarded a contract by LADWP to deploy up to 28MW of solar within the LADWP area. The contract is a "FiT" (feed in tariff) which is a policy mechanism designed by utilities to pay for renewable energy which is fed directly into the grid. The solar contracts are negotiable, are typically 20-year terms and do not violate a roof warranty. All roof warranties will be extended and, in some cases, Hecate will pay for some of the lease upfront for roof upgrades and/or repairs that the owner may already have been contemplating. The contracts will contain clauses that will allow the roof owner to get out of the lease if they decide to sell the building e.g. assignment of payments to new owner (increases valuation of building)."
